ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
Working as Mechanical Technician you will be installing, maintaining, repairing and assisting in the development of mechanical equipment to achieve maximum reliability in a safe and cost effective manner and adhere to identified INEOS standards and practices.
Key accountabilities
1. All health and safety standards (& initiatives) are adhered to and site operating procedures are followed at all times (e.g. Control of Work, COSHH, Manual Handling, Risk assessments, LOLER & PUWER etc. including the raising and follow-up of any issues/actions as appropriate).
2. Liaise in job preparation with planner and permit issuing authority to ensure job is ready to start, risks are fully understood.
3. Examine mechanical equipment as directed within safety and operational procedures to ensure any potential faults can be identified in advance of possible failure.
4. Examine faulty equipment as directed in order to accurately ascertain the root cause of the fault and make recommendations to prevent recurrence.
5. Accurately record all work carried out using a suitable CMMS in order to inform Planner and other Asset personnel of plant status and provide an accurate history of work carried out.
6. Involvement in equipment improvement teams, offering first-hand technical input and carries out actions to ensure delivery.
7. Participate in acceptance testing of new equipment within Grangemouth site.
ABOUT YOU
You should:
8. Have a relevant technical qualification (SVQ level 3 / HNC)
9. Have significant experience related to the role
10. Have knowledge of rotating machinery (compressors, pumps, blowers, RALs)
11. Be able to read and understand engineering drawings
12. Be able to use measuring equipment
13. Be able to work to close tolerances
14. Be able to use air tools, air drill & grinders
15. Have experience pressure testing
16. Have IT skills
