Could you produce customer quotations to deadlines, successfully plan machining operation sequences, and understand and identify efficient machining methods?

Our client is a long-established, reputable engineering company based in Leighton Buzzard, which has a family feel and a personable culture with a strong focus on relationships, service, and customer satisfaction.
They are the market leader in the manufacture of low volume, high quality, tubular and threaded components for various sectors including Aerospace, F1, Oil & Gas, and Defense industries. They are now looking for a SALES / ESTIMATING ENGINEER with CNC Machining knowledge to join our Sales team on a full-time, permanent basis.
You will play a crucial role within a growing sales team.
This would suit a Sales Estimator, Engineering Sub-contract Buyer / Expeditor, or previously experienced CNC machinist, who is looking for a new challenge in an office environment where they can apply their excellent IT and communication skills into a customer-focused role.
Responsibilities
1. Dealing with and processing of sales orders, enquiries, queries, and quotes.
2. Receiving sales orders and liaising with customers regarding product specifications, order detail, delivery, and special arrangements.
3. Regular liaison with customers building great customer relationships.
4. Receive, review, and reply to Customer RFQ's and their technical queries.
5. Create timely and accurate estimates and quotations from customer enquiries and technical drawings.
6. Liaising with customers over the phone and via email, regarding technical and non-technical questions, providing a client-centric service.
7. Producing quotations to deadlines - estimating all machining, materials, and inspection times for in-house elements and incorporating externally sourced elements such as sub-contract when applicable, developing new and existing supplier relationships.
8. Understand and identify machining methods of manufacture and select accurate cycle times (CNC Turning & Boring experience a distinct advantage).
9. Liaise with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
Experience and Qualities Required
1. Extensive experience within precision engineering is required with extensive knowledge of machine capabilities / machining practices working with various metals.
2. The ability to read and translate technical drawings is essential.
3. Accuracy and attention to detail is key to success.
4. Computer literacy is essential.
5. Excellent interpersonal, communicative, listening, and negotiation skills.
