Role responsibilities
The Government and Relations Manager will lead on Transport for Wales’ (TfW) government relations with the UK and Welsh Government senior officials including Directors and Head of roles through a range of online and offline channels.
1. Provide advice on Government Affairs by drafting and reviewing a wide range of correspondence from UK and Welsh Governments to be the primary point of contact for officials and Ministers.
2. Lead the development and delivery of events and be accountable for producing briefings for Ministers, TfW Board Members and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) through minute taking, supporting the ELT member when appropriate on technical or other interactions into the meeting and following up afterwards on any actions to ensure clear understanding of outcomes.
3. Draft weekly updates for Ministers and officials by working across TfW to identify, develop and create potential positive stories to raise the profile and trust of TfW with the UK and Welsh Governments.
4. Deliver robust programmes including meetings and targeted communications and organise routine meetings by engaging with Ministers and officials, to inform them of TfW developments, to ensure that Welsh Government feel trusted and confident in our capabilities.
Who we’re looking for
5. Extensive experience of working in the public sector and of working with government officials and Ministers.
6. Understanding of Welsh and UK Government procedures and protocols and of the political environment in both Wales and England.
7. The ability to lead on the development and delivery of materials to inform the wider business of best practice approaches and the requirements of Government.
8. Demonstrable experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships and communicating with a wide range of colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
