Job overview
This role involves working across Ashford and St Peters Hospital and locations within the community. Shifts involve working between the hours of 07.00 - 20.00, 4 days out of 7, example shifts include 07.00-12.00, 08.30-17.00, 12.00-20.00, 08.30-13.30.
As a Trainee Phlebotomist, you will be trained to take blood samples from patients on the wards, within outpatients, and at clinics within the community.
This role requires physical fitness, a kind empathetic nature, and excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
To participate in the provision of a high calibre and professional Phlebotomy service within Ashford and St Peters Hospitals Trust and the local community. To perform venepuncture and capillary sampling on patients and children within Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust and the surrounding community outreach clinics.

Participate in the delivery and maintenance of an efficient Phlebotomy service.
Take blood following protocol, providing care, empathy, and minimal distress to the patient.
Carry out all tasks in a prompt, safe, and efficient manner.
Take part in required training and follow protocol in line with best practice.
Demonstrate professionalism, honesty, and integrity in all matters of a confidential nature.
Be smart of appearance and dress in the uniform provided.
Attend mandatory training and continuing education courses as required.
General responsibilities
Support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.
