We have a vacant band 5 position within our dietetic team, the opportunities for gaining experience is great for a newly qualified dietitian or someone who wants to broaden their knowledge of dietetics.
We are an adult team that spans acute and community work and offer opportunities to learn and develop skills in a supportive environment.
We have developed competencies for Band 5 dietitians to ensure their development and support throughout their rotations and with great opportunities for supervision and learning.
Within the acute rotation you will experience medical and surgical rotations with the chance to work with specialist colleagues in the areas of Critical Care, Stroke Unit, Renal, Nutritional Support Team and Head and Neck Cancer. Blackpool Teaching Hospital is also the Regional Tertiary Centre for Haematology and Cardiology.
The community team cover a variety of client groups such as Home Enteral Feeding, Adult long term Conditions: Nutrition Support and Diabetes. We also are the team for the Special Weight Management Service (SWMS) and work closely with other MDT members.
As a Trust, we recommend that individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Main duties of the job
* To carry a general clinical caseload including assessments, treatment plans and the delivery of dietetic interventions to support adult long term conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings.
* To deliver the service in line with all relevant legislation, national and local policies, procedures and standards.
* To contribute to the development, supervision, assessment and training of pre-registrant student dietitians.
* To contribute to prevention and treatment of malnutrition by promoting MUST screening throughout primary and secondary care, providing education programs and enhancing timely access to dietetic expertise.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In the community you will work with long term conditions such as diabetes and COPD, as well as working with colleagues in Home Enteral Feeding and the Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management Multi-Disciplinary Team.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience acute and community dietetic services within the same trust, develop skills and learn from experienced clinicians. We are committed to job planning and maintaining a safe caseload, we are active in student training and have strong clerical support in each team.
