Description This project explores how the transformational nature of higher education creates value through developing students’ research skills. Such capacity is pivotal for future graduates to adapt to unknown and unforeseen diverse futures in the context of digitalisation, artificial intelligence, climate crisis, as well as economic and social shocks. We are interested in and are carrying out a systematic literature review on two questions: How do BA/MA/PhD students develop research skills whilst studying for various degrees? How do graduates use the research skills developed in higher education at work? As a research assistant you will work with Dr Rita Hordósy and Dr Daria Luchinskaya (University of Strathclyde) on a systematic review paper. You will use the Covidence software and further manual bibliographic searches to support the systematic review process, including initial screening, assessing full-text eligibility for screening and subsequent analysis of the body of literature. You will contribute to further conceptualisation and writing of an academic paper with the two project leads, and to discussing our findings and approach with a range of stakeholders. Start Date: To be arranged with the successful workers End Date: 31 July 2025 Working Hours: 100 hours in total worked flexibly across the period. Pay Rate: £16.65 per hour plus holiday pay The duties will include: You will use the Covidence software and further manual bibliographic searches to screen and assess papers for inclusion You will use the Overleaf software to co-write an academic paper with the two project leads You will join the two project leads in a 2-day research exchange activity and writing retreat in Manchester this spring / early summer You will contribute to discussions and presentation of the emergent outcomes with Prospects Luminate and Manchester Institute of Education Skills and experience required for the role: Experience in writing literature reviews and/or systematic reviews.
