Guildford and Waverley are working in collaboration to provide better sustainable local services and protect them for the future. At the heart of our shared values are collaboration, value for money and professionalism. One of the key priorities of both corporate strategies is a resilient and well managed council. Central to achieving this is effective governance across both councils to ensure decisions are made at the right level with accountabilities and responsibilities clear. That is why we are creating a new shared governance team to build on work we’ve already started to ensure best practice governance processes and procedures are at the heart of what we do. Your role will be to support team members in developing and keeping up to date corporate policies and associated monitoring frameworks, undertake research to ensure both councils have effective constitutional arrangements in place, and provide administrative support in the updating of the Councils Constitutions, associated protocols and standing orders. You will also support member and officer training on decision making and Member-Officer protocols. To succeed in this role you will have experience of working in a public sector environment with good ICT skills to ensure excellent document storage and record keeping. You will also have knowledge of governance policies such as code of conduct and whistleblowing and the ability to conduct research and analysis, to ensure we excel in all areas. You will be methodical and thorough and will enjoy completing tasks. This is an exciting time to join us and make a difference across both councils. This post is a full-time role, however all applications will be considered. It is a hybrid role with a combination of homeworking and working at both council offices. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Deborah Upton, deborah.uptonguildford.gov.uk. Closing date for applications: 09:00am Monday 20 January 2025 Interviews to be held on: 27, 28, and 29 January 2025
