As part of the Flexible Pipe Systems Offshore team based in Newcastle UK, you will be joining an established business and team with expertise in pipe design, procurement, and manufacturing. As a you will be responsible for performing calculations, finite element analyses (FEA) and compiling technical reports to assess product performance and structural integrity in support of new product initiatives (NPI). You will report to the Product Development Engineering Manager and collaborate with a broad team to execute your engineering tasks with a high level of independence.
As Lead Product Development & Testing Engineer, you will be responsible for:
1. Carrying out analytical calculations and FEA simulations using tools such as Ansys, MathCAD and Excel.
2. Carrying out structural and thermal analysis of Flexible Pipe System products.
3. Planning scopes of work and use international standards for structural verification (API, ASME, ISO, DNV).
4. Creating, reviewing, and releasing high quality design reports, technical notes, and design verification packages for third party/client review.
5. Participating in design reviews.
6. Supporting more junior engineers in FEA
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
7. Have a BSc / Meng / MSc in an Engineering or Material Science Subject with proven years of experience in FEA: nonlinear FEA, elastoplastic analysis, pressure vessel assessment, nonlinear contact problems and polymer modelling.
8. Have strong experience as structural engineer in subsea industry or similar.
9. Can work independently and comfortably within a global multicultural environment.
10. Have robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
11. Be a team player, with excellent communication skills.
12. Be proactive with accountability, and an aptitude for execution.
13. Have experience in an engineering position, functioning with an increased level of specialization, practice, and responsibility plus development of others and demonstrating leadership responsibilities.
14. Be working towards chartered status with a recognised institution.
