Gateshead Council's Children's Fostering Team is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our team. About the Role: As a Social Worker in our Children's Fostering Team, you will play a vital role in supporting children in care and their foster families. Your responsibilities will include: Conducting comprehensive assessments: You will assess the needs of children and their foster families, identifying areas of risk, strengths, and resources. Developing and implementing individualised care plans: You will work with children, foster families, and other professionals to develop tailored care plans, setting out clear goals and strategies to address identified needs and ensure the child's safety. Providing support and guidance: You will offer practical support and guidance to children, foster families, and other professionals involved in the child's care. Advocating for children's needs: You will champion the needs and rights of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their wishes are considered in decision-making. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records: You will adhere to relevant legislation and policies, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records to support the care planning process. Building strong relationships with foster families: You will work closely with foster families, providing support and guidance, and promoting positive relationships between foster carers and children in care. Who we're looking for: We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Social Worker with a strong understanding of the needs of children in care and their families. You will have: A recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, BSC Social Work) A valid Social Work England registration Experience in working with children in care, including experience in care planning and reviews. Experience in working with foster families is desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals. A deep understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
