Senior Drainage and SUDS Engineer
Location: Leeds
Calibre Search is working with one of the leading names in the field of Surface Water Management (SWM) who are shaping the dialogue within the UK and internationally on how drainage should become an integrated part of green blue infrastructure and master planning. By joining their drainage national team, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team with a national remit to work with a variety of clients including water companies, local authorities, highways and rail authorities, and developers on major projects. You will also be part of a team that develops cutting-edge digital services for its clients.
This is an exciting time to join the business as they merge traditional engineering skills with innovative digital methods. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the development of digital processes to enhance the engineering design process and will work closely with technical experts in this field. There is potential to develop into the regional point of contact for Surface Water Management and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS), providing technical expertise, mentoring graduate engineers, and liaising with key clients.
We are looking for an Engineer who has experience in drainage and SuDS, and a keen interest in planning, ecology, landscape architecture, environmental economics and management, and digital tools. While we do not expect you to be an expert in all these areas, an interest in any of them is a prerequisite. If you are an Engineer who wants to develop your all-round skills and help find solutions for water management in the 21st century, then a career in Drainage and Stormwater Management with our client could be the place for you.
It is essential that you are a Chartered Engineer with experience in drainage design, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS). You will need to be competent in the use of AutoCAD and Hydraulic modelling (preferably MicroDrainage and/or Civils 3D) and have a working knowledge of the CDM Regulations. An awareness of BIM and digital design processes would also be beneficial.
Possessing a proven track record in coordinating and delivering technically excellent projects on time and to budget, you will have experience working in a Design & Build environment on multi-disciplinary projects. You will be responsible for producing drainage infrastructure design packages, assisting drainage engineers in developing design solutions on multi-disciplinary projects, and coordinating with other disciplines and site teams. Ensuring compliance with the CDM Regulations and safety and environmental requirements, you will prepare and deliver technical presentations to market SUDS expertise to a variety of clients and prepare financial and technical proposals for project opportunities.
Our client recognizes that there are many qualified individuals looking to further their careers but who cannot commit to full-time employment. They support flexible working arrangements and are interested in discussing how they can accommodate individual requirements. They understand the need for a diverse and flexible workforce, where work-life balance is important. By default, they offer flexible working with no fixed 9 'till 5, no requirement for a 5-day week, no need for a full-time contract, and no requirement to spend all your working time in the office.
They offer a competitive salary that is regularly tested against other consultants, with a default of 25 days leave each year plus bank holidays, and options to buy or sell leave. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
