Logistics Co-ordinator Belfast

Logistics plays an important role in supporting manufacturing, enabling support functions and Thales’ service delivery.
Thales UK is looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and professional to assist with coordinating all logistical resources in a timely and efficient manner in support of its Belfast product delivery ensuring compliance with all security and legislative constraints. The successful candidate will be a key internal point of contact with the programme managers and export control.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Logistics Manager in directing inbound or outbound logistics operations to deliver the company’s products to our customers on time.
* Demonstrate value for money of logistics transactions without detriment to the operation of Thales.
* Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
* Be the point of contact for logistics activities with programme managers and trade compliance.
* Assist the Logistics Manager in planning or implementing improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
* Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
* Coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles.
* Assist the Logistics Manager in evaluating overseas contracts and programs commencing in bid phase.
* Participate fully in any business improvement initiatives.
* Responsible for the application of appropriate governance and compliance measures.
* Responsible for the performance of the function in accordance with the requirements of ISO9001 and other accreditations relevant to the business.
Financial / Budgetary Responsibility:
* Expenditure in accordance with the associated Functional budget and Thales UK delegated authorities.
* Achieve best price for all logistics activities.

Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Convincing written and oral communication and presentation skills.
* Interpersonal skills to optimise cross-functional working.
* Work within a team and be able to deputise for the logistics manager on occasions.
* Relevant experience in a similar logistics environment.
* Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
* Experience of working in a challenging environment.
* A high level of computer competency and reporting capabilities.
Desirable:
* The ability to translate business needs into tangible delivery of necessary logistics and supply chain capability.
* A record of accomplishment of delivering on business needs in a testing commercial environment.
* Evidence of supply chain risk mitigation.
* Ability to manage change and growth plans.
* Technical and supply market knowledge of the logistics area relevant to the role.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Experience in international logistics within a similar environment.
* Knowledge of customs formalities and international air/sea freight practices.
* A proven track record of meeting business needs and developing best practices.
* High standards of numeracy and literacy.
* HNC/HND or equivalent.
Desirable:
* Business Degree/Qualification or equivalent.
* Member of professional body (eg) MCILT
* Dangerous Goods qualification.
