The Harry James Group are working in partnership with a globally recognised market leader within energy storage and optimisation who are currently expanding due to current and new projects secured. The position of Battery Energy Storage Systems Field Service Engineer will be part of the growing Field Service Delivery Team within the Energy Business – Energy Storage & Optimization, Lifecycle Services. The applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management and construction principles, as well as experience in high power electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform field service activities in accordance with the long-term service agreement needs and the established work plan.
2. Actively support the Project Team during the commissioning of battery energy storage systems and related equipment.
3. Address technical and operational issues at customer installations promptly, report these issues, and propose product improvements to meet quality and cost targets.
4. Maintain and enhance relationships with customers through effective communication and service.
5. Prepare and present analytical service reports that include conclusions and recommendations for planned and unplanned maintenance resolving technical issues faced by customers.
6. Serve as a local technical advisor in customer meetings as required.
7. Generate service work reports and maintain accurate documentation related to site visits or customer interactions.
8. Commit to being on service jobs for at least 50% of the year to ensure hands-on resolution of issues and customer engagement.
Desired Education:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
2. Valid driver’s license.
3. Willingness to travel.
4. Relocation is not applicable for internal employees.
Desired Skills And Experience:
1. 2-4 years’ experience with battery energy storage systems and/or renewable energy, power systems design and communication networks.
In-depth knowledge of:
1. LV and MV Systems
2. Energy Management System, EMS
3. Battery module, preferred with CATL battery background
4. Inverter technology, preferred with PE or SMA inverter background
5. Online Platform Communication Systems
6. Industrial networks and protocols (Modbus TCP, Profibus, CAN-bus, CIP, ethernet/IP, Control NET, etc.)
7. PLC and Control systems
8. PV Systems
9. Variable frequency drives
10. HVAC, Chillers
11. Fire Alarm and Suppression System
12. Advanced programming of firewalls and routers
13. Installation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Commissioning experience
Additional Skills:
1. Detail oriented with a project management mindset
2. Good collaboration skills
3. Knowledgeable in MS Office applications, WS Word, WS Excel, MS Power Point
4. Excellent report writing skills
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
