Charltons are a SME family company near Frome, established in 1903 and now manufacturing comprehensive range of quality timber gates and fencing. Sales are to stockists across the UK with some sales to Europe and local sales from a retail outlet along with a large range of other related products. Internet sales are growing and the web site is being upgraded. The company has just been awarded the Kings Royal Warrant having previously held the Queens Royal Warrant
A new management team is being established as the older directors retire creating a opportunity for the FD to be a key part of the team taking the company forward. The company has a family ethos with many long term employees and we would like this to continue. Current turnover is circa £8m with 75 employees

The Role
· Lead the companies financial strategy ensuring alignment with business goals supporting sustainable growth
· Deliver accurate, insightful financial reporting including management accounts & board packs
· Oversee the preparation of annual budget and setting KPIs with management team
· Ability to form and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, insurance companies and other external stakeholders
· Responsible for audited accounts, taxation, pensions and Insurance
· Manage, lead and develop finance team
· Oversee cashflow, working capital and financial risk ensuring the company remains financially secure and compliant
· Partner with leadership to support investment decisions, profitability analysis and strategic initiatives
· Provide information and support to senior leadership
· Be able to adapt to financial systems and knowledge of MRP and SAP Business One would be a benefit
· To be a team player and work together to achieve the results
The Candidate
The role is suited to a qualified professional with a strong IT skills and a commercial mindset as well as experience in the manufacturing sector. The candidate will thrive in a hands-on environment and be capable of balancing strategic leadership with detailed financial oversight.
The opportunity would suit an ambitious Financial Controller or an established Financial Director who is looking to secure a long term working environment
Key Candidate Requirements
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with at least 5 years post qualification experience
Location In person in a rural location near Frome in Somerset
