The salary for this role is £32,729.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role
Graduate Material Joining Engineers will perform a variety of engineering tasks designed to provide experience & familiarization with staff, methods, practices, & programs of the organisation. This may include operating, maintaining & demonstrating equipment. The role holder will be expected to manage their own development continuously working towards building their knowledge & skills.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Develop understanding of joining and welding techniques across a range of materials specific to fusion applications.
* Attend regular team meetings within welding and cutting section and wider engineering installation group.
* Interfacing with design teams to understand joining requirements for various projects and programs across UKAEA including participating in design reviews.
* Liaise with third party inspection and NDT suppliers in support of projects across the authority.
* Assist with management of welding and joining documentation.
* Gain understanding of qualification processes for joining materials to national and international standards.
* Become familiar with post joining inspection techniques.
* Assist with the development of internal specifications.
* Operate within UKAEA quality, health and safety requirements.
* Represent the UKAEA Organisation and attend external outreach and careers events.
* Keep abreast of new and emerging joining technologies and techniques suitable for fusion.
* Take part in external visits such as supplier surveillance visits.
* Writing procedures, tender specifications and technical reports to support projects.
* Co-ordinating procurement activities ensuring value for money and budget compliance.
* Monitoring progress and quality of both sub-contract and in-house manufacturing & assembly ensuring compliance to UKAEA site standards.
* Identifying manufacturing non-conformances and discuss them with the associated stakeholders.
* Signing off completed work packages.
* Coordinating, instructing and enabling assisting staff in execution of project work.
Essential Requirements:
* Recognised suitable engineering degree.
* Demonstrates a good understanding of engineering principles and how they can be applied.
