Our Clinical Governance Administrator will act as the clinical governance administrator, providing clerical and administrative support for clinical governance activities within the surgical service.
They will deal with routine matters relating to the risk and governance function, ensuring urgent work is brought to the attention of clinical governance co-ordinators as appropriate.

About us
The surgical patient safety team are a forward-thinking, cohesive team of 3 people who need the support of an additional team member. We work very closely with our medical, matron and operational manager colleagues to support the Trust patient safety agenda. The team are currently in the midst of some very exciting changes to the patient safety culture at the Trust, including implementing the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and a new incident reporting system (DCIQ) to bring us in line with the Learning From Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) framework.
Job responsibilities
* Provide general administrative support to the clinical governance co-ordinators, Associate director of nursing and Medical clinical governance lead.
* Deal with telephone and email enquiries relating to the patient safety agenda and governance function in accordance with the Trust procedures.
* Enter appropriately RCA and supplementary documentation onto the Trust risk management database (DCIQ).
* Liaise with external organisations regarding any incidents reported by Trust staff and refer incidents for investigations as necessary.
* To collate information regarding Duty of candour and update the appropriate information system.
* Attend M & M meetings collecting and inputting data into the Trust and local database and to coordinate the meetings ensuring that the appropriate personnel attend the specialty meeting.
* To be aware of, and have updated knowledge of, hospital policies and procedures from the Trust's intranet.
* To be responsible for own knowledge of the Trust's and departmental Health and Safety Policy and risk register.
* There are no responsibilities for budget control in the post however the post holder must ensure resources are used as effectively.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education to include GCSE maths and English or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Business Admin or similar area.
Knowledge
* Experience of administrative/keyboard duties.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
* Able to communicate effectively with patients, all grades of staff and external contacts, both verbally and in writing.
* Able to problem solve.
* Proven organisational ability and efficiency; able to prioritise workload.
* Experience of taking meeting notes.
* Knowledge of Trust patient information administrative and information systems.
* Knowledge of IHCS, InfoFlex.
