Wyvern Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible lunchtime supervisor for our school to work 5 hours per week, 38.04 weeks per year (including 2 training days) Duties include the supervision of children and their behaviour in the lunch hall and ensuring the safety of the children during lunchtime play. You may be required to administer minor first aid if needed. Training and guidance will be given. We are looking for someone who: • has a good level of communication skills.• has a good level of spoken and written English.• has the ability to work on their own initiative. • can work well as part of a team. • understands the importance of keeping children safe at lunchtimes. • Be flexible and reliable. Duties include: • Supervising pupils in in the lunch area, playground and classrooms (for wet play) • Encourage pupils to eat their lunch and monitor those who don’t, reporting any concerns to the class teacher • May involve supporting pupils with special educational needs • Monitor pupils that aren’t engaging in play and feedback any concerns to class teacher • Manage pupils’ entrance and exit from the lunch area in an orderly manner • Clean up food and water spillages • Deliver first aid to respond to minor incidents and refer any major incidents to a qualified first aider • Record details of incidents in line with the school’s reporting procedures • Be aware of and support pupils with medical/dietary needs • Promote the school’s policy around healthy eating to pupils • Report any incidents of serious misbehaviour to the relevant staff member, in line with the school’s behaviour policy • Organise play activities to encourage pupils to play and make use of play equipment Safeguarding Recruitment Statement We are committed to keeping children and young people safe from harm and abuse and to promoting their welfare, and we expect that everyone who comes to work for us will share the same commitment.
