Position: Positive Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Oldham, Lancashire
Salary: £85-£95 per day
We are looking for a dedicated Positive Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in Oldham, Lancashire. As a Positive Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing support to young individuals with challenging behaviours. Your aim will be to promote a safe and positive learning environment that enables students to thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Implementing positive behaviour support strategies under the guidance of the lead teacher or behavioural specialist to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
2. Working one-on-one or with small groups of students to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner.
3. Facilitating communication and social skills development, using approved techniques to encourage positive interactions.
4. Documenting student progress and incidents, ensuring records are maintained accurately and confidentiality is upheld.
5. Building and maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, and families based on trust and mutual respect.
6. Assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
7. Supporting classroom teachers by contributing to the creation of an organized, clean, and effective learning environment.
8. Participating in team meetings and professional development sessions related to behaviour management and support.
9. Proactively engaging with ongoing learning about behavioural theories and support practices.
Requirements:
1. Must possess a current DBS on the update service.
2. Strong background in behaviour support, with classroom-based experience preferred but other relevant experience considered.
3. Demonstrable resilience and patience when working with young people who display complex behaviours.
4. An understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to the wellbeing of students.
5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. Flexibility to adapt to varying situations and the needs of different students.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Qualifications:
1. Relevant qualification in education, psychology, social work, or related field is advantageous.
2. Training in behavioural support techniques is highly desirable.
