About the Role:
Despatch Team Leader - Hereford
Working Hours 0700-1900/1900-0700 3 on 2 off rotating shifts
Purpose of the role:
Manage the Despatch team to deliver the departmental KPI’s using Continuous Improvement methodologies and application of the company values ensuring policies and standards are safely met.
Your key responsibilities as Despatch Team Leader will include:
1. Organise and motivate the team to deliver the day to day operational requirements of the department
2. Undertake 121’s with team members in line with the agreed business timelines
3. Working with the Despatch Shift Manager and training department to develop a high performing and engaged team that deliver to agreed quality & safety standards
4. Escalate issues in a timely manner to key stakeholders to include Production Schedulers / Transport / Sales and Despatch Shift Manager
5. Support the root cause analysis of all incidents either food or people related to enable the implementation of effective countermeasures
6. Responsible for effective and accurate stock control
7. Deputise for the Despatch Shift Manager when required
8. Consistent application of the Company’s procedures relating to absence and conduct, ensuring issues are dealt with quickly, effectively and fairly
9. Effectively manage the shift resources to meet the day to day priorities
10. Complete TMS for all weekly paid staff
11. Approve holidays within the current restrictions and update calendar and TMS accordingly, arrange overtime or cover with agencies when appropriate
12. Provide regular updates on shift progress through the escalation processes
13. Management of the bay procedures to ensure safety and adherence to SOP’s
14. Follow the defect procedure for MHE / scan guns
15. Understand, manage and adhere to the maintenance of good GMP
16. Understand, manage and adhere to health and safety procedures, encouraging safe work behaviours
17. Understand, manage and adhere to food hygiene procedures
18. To comply with and promote all Avara Foods policies and procedures
19. Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time

Essential:
20. Experience of coaching others to succeed
21. Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across departments and levels
22. Proven delegation skills
23. Desire to challenge and improve current GMP’s
24. Ability to develop good working relationships with all staff and managers
25. Ability to be able to assess and co-ordinate training requirements for new and existing team members
26. Computer literate
27. Functional skills English and Maths Entry Level 3
28. Demonstrate and promote the Company Vision and Values
Desirable:
29. Experienced MHE operator
30. Relevant ILM accreditation at Level 2 or desire to achieve within the role
31. Experience in organisation of resources to meet scheduled requirements
32. Understanding of computerised warehousing systems
33. Experience of coaching and developing others
34. A proven track recording in ensuring all aspects of team management are dealt with in an effective, consistent and fair manner
35. Experience of warehouse management systems including setting up loads and management of the WMS system to help improve operational efficiencies
36. Experience in conducting investigations, return to works, absence review meetings and disciplinary processes
37. Knowledge of the Time Management System
38. Experience of using continuous improvement and lean tools or a desire to develop in these areas
