Hours: Full-time, with flexible core hours and one day per week remote option following probation.
Are you a motivated finance professional with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach? Our client is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their finance team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave until April 2025. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to key financial processes within a manufacturing environment, offering both routine responsibilities and scope for involvement in development projects.
Role Overview:
As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a central role in ensuring accurate and insightful financial data to support business decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with the Financial Controller and work across various teams. The role encompasses both structured, recurring tasks and dynamic ad-hoc projects, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and hands-on involvement in financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Generate and analyse financial data to assist the Financial Controller in supporting business decisions, including month-end sales, gross margin, and variance analysis.
* Contribute to the month-end processes, profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
* Assist with the completion of monthly management reports and maintain key performance indicator (KPI) data.
* Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes.
* Support the monthly review and update of standard costs, including cost roll-up processes.
* Identify and recommend improvements to finance procedures.
* Oversee the online expenses system and act as the main point of contact.
* Support year-end processes, including accounts and year-end audits.
* Assist with payroll and manage statutory reporting requirements, including National Statistics returns.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* A’ level Maths or NVQ equivalent
* AAT qualification (or similar professional qualification in progress)
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level)
* Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Self-motivated with a deadline-focused approach
Desirable:
* Experience in the manufacturing or FMCG sector
* SAP experience
