We are looking for a passionate, innovative and enthusiastic Midwife to lead and support the local implementation of a Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS) designed in collaboration with NENC Local Maternity and Neonatal system (LMNS) and NHS England. The local ambition is that ALL women and birthing people will have education and advice around pelvic health and access to physiotherapy services in the postnatal period.

Main duties of the job
To work within a multidisciplinary team to continually monitor the quality of care that women and birthing people receive and improve outcomes in line with the PPHS objectives.
To identify areas for improvement and to take a lead role in designing, implementing, and supporting new and existing initiatives.
To work cooperatively with existing services and the Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to develop and plan pathways, referral criteria, data collection and service evaluation related to the implementation of a new service, adjusting processes as appropriate.
Develop and lead effective specialist programmes of care for specific patient groups within a multi-disciplinary team. This may involve, but is not limited to, supporting clinics for women and birthing people who suffered pelvic floor dysfunction and or at-risk groups who sustained an OASI or perineal trauma, perineal breakdown.
Review and maintain specific pelvic health guidelines to improve prevention, recognition and the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction.
Provide up-to-date, evidence-based information and education for colleagues and students to enhance knowledge and skills relating to the perineal care of women and birthing people in labour and postnatally in line with LMNS PPHS.

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust defines a Midwife specialist as a qualified Midwife where the primary purpose of the role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced level knowledge to patients, carers, and health professionals concerning a specific disease/condition.
Within the sphere of specialist practice:
* Demonstrates significant advanced knowledge and skills within specialty and sphere of practice.
* Supports the Maternity Service in the development and review of guidelines and policies.
* Takes a lead role in facilitating the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients.
* Supports the development of Midwifery practice within the specialist field and contributes to the body of Midwifery knowledge, monitoring standards of practice through audit and presenting findings and key performance indicators to the Maternity Team.
* Contributes to the work of the Trust to ensure the development of an appropriate Perinatal Pelvic Health Service which includes staff and service user education and an associated audit programme.
* Acts as an expert within the specialist area.
* Leads and provides training and education across the organisation in relevant areas of practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Registered Midwife
* Current NMC registration
* Degree level study, or equivalent specialist study/experience
* Current driving license
* Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for mentorship
Knowledge & Experience
* Extensive post-registration experience, some of which will be at a senior level within the required specialist area of practice
* Extended clinical practice underpinned by training supervision & assessment
* Audit/research experience
* Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
* Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy related to Maternity and Neonatal services
* Understanding/experience of adult/child safeguarding
* Evidence of leading programmes of education and/or training
* Evidence of project management

* Effective report writing skills
* Ability to work independently and across disciplines as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
* Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills
