NRL’s engineering client is looking to recruit an Instrument Designer to be based in Macclesfield Cheshire. The Instrument Designer will have the responsibility to support the local projects team through provision of Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services.
About the role:
1. This role will require a high level of autonomy and strong communication skills.
2. The Instrument Designer will have a technical engineering design background. Projects within the current portfolio include:
3. Extensive flow and pressure monitoring project
4. Upgrade of effluent plant to PLC control
5. Upgrade of process plant to DCS
Role Detail Description:
6. The Instrument Designer will work closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Manager supporting the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects.
7. The post holder will:
8. Review and assess customer needs
9. Provide resource estimates for design related activities
10. Produce reports, scope of works, concept design and detailed designs (TypicallyRIBA2-4)
11. Support effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
12. Produce documentation in accordance with defined standards/quality requirements
13. Liaise with design and equipment subcontractors
14. Interface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil
15. Provision of 2D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts and cable/containment routing diagrams
16. Cable Block Diagrams
17. Instrument Loop Diagrams
18. Honey well BMS Interface Diagrams
What you will need?
19. Extensive experience in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.
20. HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subject
21. Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable
Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable but not essential
22. Experience of E&I design best practices
23. Compex 12 Qualification desirable
24. Experience in ATEX Hazardous Area design and protection concepts including Intrinsic Safety
25. Experience in Functional Safety–IEC61508/IEC61511 desirable
26. Project life cycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)
27. Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures
28. Sound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
29. Undertake site surveys
30. Possess collaborative skills and experience working in part of a multi-discipline team
31. Possess ability to work in a team or alone, comfortable to liaise with client representatives
32. Strong communication and organisational skills
