An exciting opportunity to lead our dedicated Primary ITE team in shaping the next generation of primary teachers.
The Primary ITE academic portfolio at Canterbury Christ Church University comprises undergraduate (BA Primary Education) and postgraduate (PGCE Primary Education) provision. School-based courses (PGCE with QTS and QTS-only) are also an important part of the academic portfolio including partnership working with providers of School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT). Primary ITE also contributes to our highly innovative and successful International Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) course. The ITE academic portfolio has recently been re-designed to meet DfE 2024 ITT Criteria, including in the delivery of Intensive Training and Practice (ITAP), for implementation from September 2024.
As a member of the School Executive Group, the Head of Primary ITE will be responsible for ensuring that School, Faculty and University initiatives are implemented within a local context. The Head of Primary ITE will provide strategic leadership specific to this age-phase, including in the monitoring and evaluation of course performance metrics.
Applicants will need to be an experienced education professional, holding a first degree or higher degree in a cognisant discipline and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with a proven track-record in highly effective leadership and management. They will need be an outstanding communicator with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues to reach their full potential.

How will you work?
Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that the majority of your working time will be spent on campus.
