North Star Academy Trust is a small multi-academy trust that was set up with the ambition to improve the SEND provision in the South West and provide as many young people as possible with a bespoke, specialist education that is tailored to each individual's needs. We are a small but growing Trust, currently consisting of four schools and an Outreach team.
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Finance Manager (Maternity Cover) to join our Central Team. This post will be based at our secondary school, North Star 240, although it will involve work at the other schools in the Trust on occasion.
The role requires a deep understanding of financial management, budgeting, and accounting principles. You will play a key role in the Trust's annual cycle of budget setting, production of monthly management accounts, compiling VAT returns, preparing the financial year end, liaising with auditors, and assisting with the preparation of the statutory financial statements. The postholder will work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations.
You will act as a key link between the central team and the schools, supporting the Headteachers to make informed decisions in the best interests of their pupils, through the provision of competent financial information, analysis, and insight. You will be required to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including Headteachers, school staff, external agencies, and suppliers of services.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Candidates should hold a minimum of either AAT Level 4 or an accounting degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) with previous accounting experience.
2. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel.
3. Ability to work on their own initiative, assimilate information, and communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
You will be required to work 37 hours per week, all year round. The annual leave for full-time all year round staff is 25 days as well as an additional 8 bank/public holidays. This is a one-year fixed term position covering maternity leave.
