The Ashbrook Project is a Victorian villa in North Edinburgh, which is situated directly adjacent to the Salvation Army’s Eagle Lodge Home for Older People and some of our café customers are residents of the Lodge and their families The project comprises of a dementia friendly café, conference and training rooms. The Café is marketed to the wider community and to organisations in the city who support people and families experiencing dementia.
Ashbrook Café is a light and airy space offering a friendly and accessible space, serving light lunches and home baking. Everyone is welcome, especially those whose lives are touched by dementia. We want to create an environment where people of every generation can come together, learning each other’s life experiences, and enjoying each other’s company.
As Café Assistant, you will greet and serve customers through the till within the Café, taking food and drinks orders and preparing light snacks. You will work with the kitchen team to ensure the best quality produce is delivered to the customer in a timely manner and that the Cafe is cleaned and well maintained for all visitors to Ashbrook.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
1. Experience in a customer facing role.
2. Basic food hygiene certificate.
3. Experience working in a fast-paced food service environment.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Appreciation of and commitment to working within The Salvation Army’s Christian ethos and key values.
