We are seeking dedicated Cable Operatives responsible for building and maintaining core and distribution fibre networks. This includes fibre cable installation, sub duct pulling, and fibre blowing. The role involves heavy cable pulling (using assist equipment or by hand) and working across various environments to identify and upgrade fibre network components.
We are also recruiting Civil Operatives who will be required to perform excavations, repairs and re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers and street cabinets and the installation of draw rope on telecoms infrastructure located within the public highway and customers premises. This will be done using up to date client standard operating procedures and in full compliance to current legislation, health and safety requirements and company policies.
Responsibilities of a Cable Operative
* Upgrade existing fibre networks through heavy cable pulling, sub duct pulling, and fibre blowing to meet client standards.
* Build and maintain fibre networks, using assist equipment or manual methods, by identifying and working on cables and sub ducts.
* Record changes and updates, ensuring client documentation is completed accurately.
* Conduct risk assessments and complete online forms using company-provided devices, with a strong focus on health and safety.
Responsibilities of a Civils Operative
* Provide new installation and repair of network duct for associated customer connections.
* Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standard ensuring all information and photos are captured on company supplied assets i.e. phone or tablet
* Be competent in the use of Stihl Saws / Wacker plates / trench compactor and hold the correct certification to complete the works
* Install new draw rope and drop cable to customer's connection point following installation/repair of duct works
* Complete appropriate paperwork for your daily works on job sheets, risk assessments, plant sheets and/or van sheets
Requirements
* Be in good physical health
* Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
* A full driving license is required.
* Relevant qualifications such as NRSWA Accreditation, Approved Fibre/Sub Duct installation training, and Confined Spaces City & Guilds are preferred
* Experience in similar operational or engineering environment within the telecommunications industry
