JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Purchasing Assistant with experience of working in a busy purchasing environment, who works to a high level of accuracy with excellent administrative, communication, and time-management skills.
As the Purchasing Assistant, you will be responsible for the routine purchasing of consumables, including but not limited to sub-con services, welding spares, stationery, cleaning equipment, fasteners, and machine consumables. To ensure this is achieved, close communication and assistance will be required at all levels from office to shop floor.

DUTIES
Your duties will include:
* Routine purchasing of consumables, including welding spares, stationery, cleaning equipment, fasteners, and machine consumables.
* Managing sub-con service purchase orders for items leaving the company’s site for treatments like paint, heat treatment, galvanising, etc.
* Adhering to all company policies and procedures including health & safety, environment, and quality standards.
* Maintaining and updating the costs of open Purchase Orders as required.
* Expediting late purchase orders and providing feedback to the Purchasing Manager and internal customers.
* Ensuring timely delivery of open Purchase Orders.
* Assisting the Purchasing Manager with other company tasks as needed.
* Participating in training and risk assessments.
* Performing administrative duties in liaison with senior management and department heads.
* Fulfilling Health and Safety responsibilities as per company policies.
* Ordering and maintaining adequate stock of stationery and canteen supplies for staff.
* Handling external customer contacts politely and professionally.
* Arranging maintenance of office equipment and furniture.
* Assisting with invoice consolidation and monthly accounts.
* Supporting internal or external audits when required.
* Updating contact databases and supplier lists accurately.
* Assisting with store management and material certification collation when needed.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
* Previous experience in a busy purchasing environment.
