Are you an aspiring teacher who is passionate about enhancing the provision for children and young people with special educational needs?
We are seeking to appoint two Trainee Teachers who are dedicated to completing their training and development here at Medeshamstede Academy.
To be successful, you will be a creative, nurturing individual dedicated to ensuring that pupils’ needs are met, providing them with a positive learning journey and helping them to achieve their aspirations. The academy uses the TEACCH approach to underpin the learning environment and curriculum delivery, and you will be well supported to use this within your own practice.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring teacher who wishes to work in a unique environment. The role will expose you to challenging situations involving pupils with significant special educational needs; therefore, experience of working with students with autism would be advantageous.
To be successful, you will have achieved the following minimum requirements:
* A degree awarded by a UK higher education provider or a recognised equivalent qualification
* A standard equivalent to grade C/4 or above in GCSE English, Mathematics and Science examinations
* The right to work and study in the UK and/or you have been resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years
This role is required to start on 30 June 2025 for 13 months on a full-time (32.5 hours per week) basis.
About us
The Medeshamstede Academy opened in a new building in June 2013 to provide education for students from 4 to 16. We are an all-through academy in which our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for communication and interaction, with a diagnosis of autism as their main presenting need. There are currently just over 100 students on roll.
The Academy is on a rapid improvement journey, and the new leadership team is working hard to ensure students receive the best education possible.
