The ideal candidate will be a resilient, patient, and empathetic educator who thrives in a challenging environment and is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate the delivery of educational programmes tailored to meet the needs of students with SEMH, working within a small, supportive team.
* Teach Foundation-level English and Maths, and deliver Occupational Studies with appropriate subject specialism.
* Provide support and guidance to Teaching Assistants, managing their contributions and ensuring they are fully integrated into the educational programmes.
* Implement effective behaviour management strategies and build positive relationships with students to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
* Contribute to the school's broader aims, collaborating with the SLT to improve outcomes and support students' personal development.
* Ensure that all working practices are risk-assessed to maintain a safe and secure environment for students and staff.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
* A solid understanding of Foundation English and Maths, and a willingness to develop knowledge in Occupational Studies.
* Knowledge of attachment theory, trauma responses, and an understanding of behaviour management in students with SEN, particularly SEMH.
* Minimum of one year's experience working in a classroom, with a focus on SEN students.
* Strong behaviour management skills and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with students and colleagues.
* A proactive approach to risk management and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students.
* A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance are required.
