Haven Health surgery in Felixstowe has a multi-disciplinary team who are serious about healthcare and achieving the best for all their patients but who like to work in a supportive and fun atmosphere. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible Practice Nurse.
Suitable candidates must be able to work autonomously and undertake all the variable duties of a general practice nurse including cervical cytology, chronic disease management, immunisations, and wound care.
The vacancy is for 21-30 hrs a week; however, flexibility is crucial to accommodate training, holidays, and occasional sickness.
Within easy access of Ipswich (20 minutes with staff parking), we support in excess of 8800 patients from a diverse range of backgrounds. We have an established team with a strong focus on customer service and communication. We would love to hear from candidates with Primary Care experience.
The successful candidate should be able to work calmly and professionally as part of a team. You should have the ability to multi-task. A strong command of written and spoken English with an excellent telephone manner is a must. Good time management skills and the ability to follow protocols and/or instructions with attention to detail is essential. The interview panel will consist of a minimum of 2 people. Shortlisting will be week beginning 28th October 2023 with interviews week beginning 4th November 2024.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary:
To provide nursing services to patients on the practice list, including assessment, advice within the professional competence of the post holder, screening, and treatment. Extra training will be provided for new duties undertaken. The post holder will work in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides care directly to patients without referral via another senior nurse or doctor.
To undertake general nursing duties within the nursing team, including:
1. Immunisations/Baby Imms
2. Cervical smears
3. Contraception advice and pill checks
4. Diabetes with Warwick diploma or similar
5. Chronic disease management particularly respiratory - preferable with a diploma in asthma/COPD.
6. To work to practice protocols and guidelines.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
1. Provide general and specific health assessment and screening to the practice population (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
2. Advise patients on general health and minor ailments with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
3. Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently to agreed protocols.
4. Implement a systematic approach to care, to include efficient and accurate record keeping for the benefit and safety of patients/clients, continuity of care, and professional security.
5. Assist with the development of work practices within agreed policies to provide the optimum standards of care.

Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent
* Current NMC registration
* Diploma in Asthma / COPD
* Knowledge of SystmOne, ICE, and AskmyGP
* Diploma in Asthma / COPD and Long Term Condition management
Experience
* Understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality and Information Governance standards.
* Experience of working within a nursing team within a Primary Care or healthcare setting.
* Ability to work in a changing environment.
