The vacancy
Moore Barlow is currently seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our Commercial Property Team, based in Southampton.
More about us:
Formed via a merger in 2020, Moore Barlow is a leading law firm with an aim to be the best law firm to work for regionally. We are a career firm, providing access to high-quality work, long-term career opportunities, and an environment built on the premise of being “human first” in everything we do. Put simply, we care as much about your career as you do.
We are featured in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2024 list and consistently achieve recognition for the quality of our services in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, including specific recognition for our work in Commercial Property.
We are now 450 people, including 280 lawyers and 58 Partners, with offices across the South-East and London.
More about the Commercial Property Team:
Our specialist Commercial Property Team, and a number of individual lawyers, have received consistent recognition in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Our team are experts in all matters relating to transactions involving commercial real estate, servicing a wide spectrum of clients from a variety of industry sectors.
Our team pride themselves on their client-centric approach; they recognize the importance of fully understanding a client’s commercial objectives and ensuring they receive an efficient, pragmatic, and dedicated service, regardless of the value or complexity of their matter.
We adopt a “one team” approach, which ensures the best outcomes for our clients through collaboration and teamwork. By sharing work and leveraging each team member’s unique skill set, we guarantee results for our clients while creating a supportive and inclusive work environment for our colleagues.
Day to day:
You will manage and develop your own mixed caseload of complex Real Estate matters whilst playing a vital role in the supervision and continued growth of the team. We promote a healthy work-life balance which allows our people to manage their various responsibilities in a way that is sustainable for the long term. This leads to better outcomes for our clients as well as making Moore Barlow a great place to work.
You will assist with the management of key client relationships within the whole of our Real Estate division by supporting and complying with the departmental and firm client management and business development programmes.
What we look for:
Our Firm is built on the value of “Human First” and, because of that, we are looking to recruit those with a passion for delivering the best possible outcomes for their clients, and the drive to continuously learn and improve. We are a friendly, flexible, and open team who look for the same.
You will ideally:
1. Be a qualified Solicitor/Legal Executive or Partner with strong prior experience of dealing with a wide range of Commercial Property agreements.
2. Be pro-active and used to managing clients on a day-to-day basis with little formal supervision and with a track record of delegating to and supervising junior solicitors.
3. We do not tend to use PQE as the sole measure of experience, but we estimate this position would suit somebody with at least 10 years PQE. Ultimately, we are keen to hear from individuals who are currently in a Senior Associate role with a desire to progress to Partnership and existing Partners looking to make a lateral move.
4. You will have experience in, or a keen interest to be involved in, marketing and business development-related activities.
5. We are human-first in everything we do and seek people who share this trait. You will therefore have great communication skills, a passion for helping clients and colleagues achieve their goals and the ability to think creatively.
6. Whilst this position is offered full-time, we offer a split of working from home and in the office; we are a flexible team and are open to considering alternative working patterns.
Above all, ours is a friendly, empathetic and expert team and as such, we are seeking an individual who is able to demonstrate a team-focused mindset, and a passion for achieving the right outcome for the clients we serve, and the Firm.
