The Opportunity
We are currently providing support to a young person in the borough of Barking and Dagenham that is not currently able to access mainstream education. We are looking specifically for a SEND specialist to support a child in their care home with play-based learning and life skills. The student demonstrates traits of autism and global learning delay, therefore, we require a SEN specialist with experience supporting similar needs and managing behaviour.
Support will take place at the students residential care home in Barking. The young person requires 10 hours of support each week which will take place in 2 hour timeslots from Monday through to Friday.
This role would be best suited to individuals from a Special Educational Needs background, for example Support Workers, Carers, SEN Teaching Assistants, SEN mentors.
Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
· Teaching, tutoring, or learning support experience as a minimum
· Strong experience working with individuals with a variety of SEND
· PECS/Makaton training preferred
· Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
· Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
·Hold the right to work in the UK
·Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
