We currently have a vacancy for a Full Time Unit Receptionist within the Paediatric Department. Predominantly based on the two paediatric wards Dolphin and Sunshine, however you may also be asked to cover Children’s Outpatients and back office administration.
We require a friendly individual with excellent communication and organisation skills for this key post in our close knit service. You will be working as part of team providing seven day cover for our reception areas. Your day to day tasks will include answering our security entry system and telephones, managing the patient administration system (CRS), liaising with other hospitals & departments and general clerical/office skills (filing, photocopying, note pulling).
This post involves direct verbal contact with parents, other family members, and visitors at a sensitive time in their lives requiring an empathetic and courteous manner. You will be an essential and valued member of a busy multidisciplinary team of health care professionals including Doctors and Nurses.

To provide administrative and clerical support to the multidisciplinary team on the Paediatric Wards and in Outpatients 7 days a week as part of a team of Receptionists on a rota basis To greet all patients and visitors to the unit and to direct them to the appropriate area.
You may also be asked to provide back office support, including data validation.
To maintain friendly but professional approach to patients, relatives and visitors and staff.
To deal with a range of telephone enquiries from patient’s, relatives, visitors and staff. To monitor the ward entry phone helping to ensure unit security where possible.
To maintain safety and confidentiality of information at all times.
To liaise with other departments within the hospital.
To undertake all work in accordance with unit and hospital policies and statutory requirements.
To respect the religious, cultural and diverse individual needs of the children and their families
To participate in study days/training courses relevant to the area of work and participate in own performance review with supervisor.
