Ty Dewr is a Life house accommodating 12 homeless veterans. The Life house is nestled in a woodland area in rural Wrexham, providing a calming and tranquil space to rehabilitate.
We are looking for someone with a passion to support veterans and some understanding of the particularly unique experiences and challenges veterans may face
The role of Support Worker is key to supporting our veterans and you will be responsible for assisting with delivering a high-quality programme of support which promotes client choice and control. You will work to address client’s support needs, enabling them to make positive life choices and ultimately empower them to lead more sustainable lifestyles. You will use your initiative to complete day to day diversionary activities with clients and assist in the completing of support activities and support planning.
Key Responsibilities:
To work as part of a team taking shared responsibility for delivering our programme of holistic and tenancy focused support to our residents.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge around homelessness and the key needs experienced by vulnerable homeless people
Demonstrate sound knowledge of the benefits systems
Demonstrate great communication and IT skills
Enjoy working as part of a team and also have the confidence to be self-directed and work alone when needed
Hold the ability to work in sympathy with the spiritual principles of The Salvation Army
