The Players Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Relations Specialist who will support our mission to increase our impact within our beneficial class. This role will focus on enhancing brand visibility, driving awareness, and promoting the charity’s services to our diverse range of charitable beneficiaries. You will play a key role in promoting the charity’s campaigns, managing its reputation, and ensuring alignment with its strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Public Relations & Communications:
* Develop and execute the organisations Marketing and Communication strategy, to position The Players Foundation as a leading charity in support of current and former football players and football communities.
* Build and manage relationships with media, influencers, and key stakeholders to maximise positive awareness and engagement.
* Develop and manage crisis and reputation management strategies to protect and enhance the charity’s public image.
Marketing & Promotion:
* Work closely with the executive team to design and deliver regular targeted campaigns throughout the year, aimed at raising awareness of the charity’s work and driving applications for support.
* Promote the charity's activities, including community initiatives such as our partnership with The National Football Museum.
* Collaborate on strategies to increase the charity’s visibility among its target audience.
* Identify new opportunities to promote the charity’s initiatives and successes.
Social Media & Content Creation:
* Oversee external content provider managing the charity’s social media and website content in collaboration with the executive team, ensuring alignment with the charity’s messaging and objectives.
* Develop compelling story-driven content that highlights the charity’s impact, inspiring engagement and support.
* Ensure consistent branding and tone of voice across all content and communications.
Relationship Building & Stakeholder Engagement:
* Foster relationships with current and former players, associations, partners, and key stakeholders to encourage beneficiaries to engage with the charity.
* Act as a brand ambassador, representing the charity at events and networking opportunities.
Performance and Improvement:
* Monitor and report on campaign performance, using insights to inform future activities.
* Develop and update reports to share performance on all areas of marketing and public relations with the executive team, including recommendations for continuous improvements.
* Proven experience in public relations.
* Strong understanding of marketing, brand promotion, and raising visibility.
* Proven track record of growing a brand and/or developing brand awareness.
* Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
* Expertise in content creation and storytelling, with a track record of producing impactful campaigns.
* Experience in managing website/social media platforms and external content providers.
* Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations effectively and protect reputations.
* Knowledge of the football industry’s dynamics and culture.
* Passion for contributing to a charitable organisation, with a commitment to delivering impactful benefits that enhance the lives of beneficiaries.

Core Benefits:
* For a 25 hour per week commitment, we offer a competitive rate of £35,000 annually. The Players Foundation will be willing to consider approaches from partnerships or from individuals as appropriate.
* Flexible working hours, with the expectation of delivering on agreed milestones and deadlines.
It is expected that personal travel will be necessary in order to attend meetings and to meet organisations. Expenses will be paid in accordance with The Players Foundation expenses policy.
