Job Description:
Exercises independent judgment in accordance with well-established policies, procedures, and industry-related practices. Carries out a variety of managerial tasks, including the supervision of trade staff, material procurement, weekly payroll, assists with the planning and oversight of construction projects, oversight and coordination of the regulatory compliance program, and vendor relations. Assists in the development and works within budgets considering all factors affecting plant operations, including labor, energy, and replacement capital. Maintains departmental quality assurance programs, and other related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
* Works under the Department Director providing system-wide facilities operations and construction activities support.
* Participates in the planning and development of all aspects of new projects and programs across the Bristol Health System.
* Assists with policies and programs to assure compliance with TJC (The Joint Commission) and other regulatory agencies.
* Assists with the energy management program.
* Responsible for preventative maintenance and work order programs.
* Assists with the electrical safety program.
* Assists with internal and external construction-related activities working with architects and engineers to develop accurate construction drawings as appropriate.
* Assists with preparing, maintaining, and presenting accurate and timely project expense reports for monthly ELG reports.
* Assists with oversight and controls for FTE and expense budgets.
* Assists with subordinates.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Participates in departmental educational programs to enhance team operations.
* Leads the development of a safe, effective, and efficient work control plan through planning and scheduling of work for various crafts.
* Continuously assesses, reviews, and improves maintenance processes using industry metrics to evaluate the performance of building systems, equipment, and to identify defects, recurring failures and/or improve outcomes.
* Collaborates with clients, facilities staff, and outside contractors to coordinate the execution of work, involving multiple trades.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Acquire and maintain the Facilities Operations Vehicle Fleet.
* Support the Director of Physical Plant (Facilities) Operations to distribute work assignments.
* Participate in contingency planning and business continuity planning for emergency situations.
* Actively participate in the emergency management process during emergencies as needed.
State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:
Certified Health Facility Manager (CHFM) and/or licensed trade professional (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc.).
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by the Hospital.
Special Requirements:
Excellent customer service skills, computer literate, ability to work within software applications, ability to develop and analyze spreadsheets.
Ability to verbalize so the average person can comprehend.
Ability to work well and interact with customers.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate walking, bending, stooping. Physical and digital dexterity. Occasional light lifting of office supplies and materials.
Educational / Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related job experience.
3-5 years prior facilities healthcare experience required.
General Knowledge of:
Boiler plant operation, HVAC, electrical and carpentry procedures and knowledge, and design/engineering experience required. Previous supervisory and management experience required. Detailed knowledge and experience with the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies required, including related NFPA, OSHA, BOCA, and other state codes. Experience with managing large and multiple projects.
