Job Description:
The Role
We have a brand-new opportunity for an HR Business Partner to join our People & Development team that can be based in our Birmingham or Manchester offices. This role is ideal for an experienced HRBP looking to develop into a more strategic position. It blends operational HR delivery with increasing strategic influence, supporting business leaders while contributing to firm-wide people initiatives. Responsibilities include:
1. Business Partnering & Advisory: Act as a trusted HR advisor to Directors and senior managers in the Business Unit, providing guidance on workforce planning, employee relations, and HR best practices. Working with Business Unit Leadership Teams to identify people priorities and challenges, supporting decision-making processes, collaborating with senior leadership to develop solutions.
2. People Strategy Contribution: Support the delivery of the People Strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders to align HR initiatives with business needs.
3. Annual HR Cycles: Enable the activities of the firm’s HR calendar within the Business Unit, such as overseeing pay reviews, promotions, performance management, and engagement processes.
4. Employee Relations & Compliance: Provide expert advice on ER matters, employment law, and policy updates, proactively mitigating HR risks. Share learnings with the P&D team, and escalate issues as necessary.
5. Project & Change Leadership: Lead and support HR projects such as talent management, engagement, and diversity & inclusion initiatives.
6. Operational Oversight: Supervise, guide and mentor the HR Consultant/Manager, ensuring high-quality HR operations and continuous improvement.
7. Data-Driven Decision Making: Use people analytics to inform strategic discussions and improve HR effectiveness.
8. Leadership & Development: Partner with senior leadership to support succession planning and leadership development.
9. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside other central functions such as Finance, Governance, Marketing, and Internal Comms to integrate HR initiatives into broader business strategies.
10. Facilitating and Managing an Effective Employee Relations Culture: Provide guidance and coaching to Directors, Line Managers, and Employees on ER frameworks, principles, and procedures.
What We Are Looking For
1. Previous HR advisory and/or HR business partnering experience.
2. Degree qualified.
3. CIPD qualified or actively working towards CIPD qualification.
4. Solid understanding of current UK legislation and its application to HR policies and practices.
5. Strong communication skills at all levels with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence effectively.
6. Strong attention to detail.
7. Ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels.
8. Ability to work without supervision; effective time management and strong organisational skills.
9. Strong team working skills with a can-do approach.
10. High level of computer literacy – working knowledge of MS Office suite to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook.
11. Tact and discretion when handling confidential documents and information.
12. Ability to remain calm under pressure, navigate complex situations, and apply practical solutions to HR challenges.
