Job Description:
Exciting opportunity for a Building Inspector (Quality Control Inspector) to join a friendly and professional team. They are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible to carry out inspections.
Some projects will involve affordable housing developments.
Work locations include Greater London, Kent, Sussex. Key areas in London include Southwark, Havering, Wembley.
The ideal Clerk of Works candidate will be creative, collaborative, and work well with the construction and project teams. A keen eye for detail and the ability to review documents and drawings to identify issues early is essential to ensure build quality and product reliability.
The successful candidate must hold a full, clean driving license and have access to a vehicle.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Oversee building works for assigned sites to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion.
* Ensure compliance with assurance requirements based on regulations and employer standards.
* Conduct inspections to identify defects during and after construction, documenting and escalating issues appropriately.
* Stay updated on building regulations and compliance standards.
* Demonstrate understanding of the building and housing industry, including materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements.
* Prepare detailed written reports with photographs and submit them promptly.
* Organize snagging and defect inspections with clients.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and safety measures.
* Experience as a Clerk of Works, Quality Manager, Site Manager, or similar role at an intermediate or senior level.
* Keen eye for detail and document/drawing review skills.
* Experience inspecting residential projects.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and regulations.
* Team player with IT proficiency, especially in MS Word and Outlook.
* Excellent report writing skills.
* Valid driving license.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
* Clerk of Works ICWIC accreditation is highly desirable.
* Other relevant designations such as CIOB, CABE, RICS, IFE will be considered.
* A formal qualification in construction, engineering, or project management is advantageous.
