Job Description Title: Metrology Engineer Reporting to: Quality Manager Department: Quality Location: Colchester Woods Air Movement specialises in the design, test, certification and manufacture of axial fans for a wide range of industrial, life applications. Main Purpose of Role: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurements across the company, so that products meet quality standards and specifications. Working closely with the Manufacturing & Production Engineering teams, assist in investigating and implementing improvement opportunities, focussed on quality processes, equipment and tooling. Assist with calibration processes, conducting measurements and inspections, while supporting internal audits. Assist in managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Main Duties & Responsibilities: Measurement Process: Conduct, oversee and improve measurement processes to ensure accuracy and reliability in all quality checks. Hold a proactive approach to Safety ensuring adherence to related standards and policies. X-Ray Process: Oversee the X-Ray inspection process to ensure product integrity and quality. Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Inspections: Conduct inspections to verify that products and processes meet established quality standards and specifications. CAPA Management: Handle corrective and preventive actions for customer, supplier, and internal issues to ensure continuous improvement. Production Standards: Assist in developing and maintaining production standards to ensure consistent quality. Internal Audits: Plan and conduct internal audits to assess the effectiveness of quality management systems and processes. Maintain the department KPI’s. Identify, recommend and complete requests for Capital Expenditure, focused on process and quality equipment/tooling improvement opportunities. Monitor casting tooling condition alongside the Supplier Quality Engineer. Calibration: Oversee the calibration schedule alongside the Quality Technician and assist in managing the associated equipment/tooling. Person Specification/Profile HNC, Degree, relevant Quality or Engineering Qualification or equivalent Romer Arm/PCDMIS knowledge essential Proven experience in metrology, quality control and assurance Strong knowledge of CAPA processes and calibration management. Experience with inspection techniques and tools Familiarity with production standards and quality management systems Strong attention to detail Upholds high ethical standards and professional conduct Organisation and time management skills Self motivation and the ability to motivate others. Awareness of manufacturing processes and Lean Manufacturing principles IT Literate to intermediate level.
