Are you looking to take the next step in your career? Do you enjoy supervising junior lawyers as well as running an interesting and challenging caseload?
We are seeking an experienced housing litigation Solicitor or FCILEx to join our well-respected and fast-paced housing management team.
What you’ll be doing
Our clients enjoy working closely with their lawyers as they resolve disputes. The position has arisen in the Housing Management side of our team. This team deals with everything to do with managing our client’s housing stock and their tenants’ conduct. Principally this involves dealing with disrepair claims, anti-social behaviour injunctions, breach of tenancy injunctions, possession claims, property and land disputes including adverse possession and boundary disputes, and leasehold disputes.
Members of the team regularly appear before County Courts and the Property Tribunal.
There is an expectation that you will conduct your own advocacy (at least through directions and case management hearings) as well as provide ad hoc advice to our clients.
Additionally, there will be direct client contact outside of a case setting through the delivery of targeted training to clients, information to clients through newsletters, and managing client relationships.
What we’re looking for
You will have litigation experience and a practical, proactive approach. In addition, you will need to be an effective communicator ensuring that all clients have the information they need. Supervising junior members of the team will form part of this role.
Initially you will be office-based in Exeter to help you familiarise yourself with the team, our work, and the support available to you. Whilst we are happy to discuss hybrid working arrangements, this role will require the successful candidate to work a minimum of 2 days per week in the office alongside other commitments the role will require such as Court attendance.
What you’ll have
Experience gained from a similar sector will be an advantage.
What we have
We believe that our people are our most important asset, and are committed to supporting our teams, cultivating a healthy culture of challenge and expectation with support and care. We invest in our teams and our infrastructure to ensure that we attract and retain talented staff and are committed to giving all colleagues the opportunity to reach their full potential, with a real focus on training and development.
