About the role
The support and training given by the Company is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to become a successful Transport Planner.
In your role you will support the Traffic Team/ drivers to:
1. Manage collections/ deliveries whilst considering route planning, reducing empty miles, and costs;
2. Liaise with customers, drivers, maintenance and provide excellent communication;
3. Resolve and manage day-to-day issues which could be breakdowns, road closures, delays;
4. Understand customer relationships, expectations and rules;
5. Update computer systems with customer details, load details and other relevant information;
6. Comply with transport laws/ regulations and health & safety.
The timeline towards being a successful Transport Planner is very much dependent on you and is a longer-term goal.
An apprenticeship could be considered in Logistics Operations or Business Administration, or in the future, you may wish to consider the Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence qualification.

Forward Thinking/ Problem Solving – Learn to anticipate and find solutions for any problems which arise or at least know who can help.
Embrace change – A new challenge/ different priority can impact the rest of the fleet; therefore, you may have to rethink vehicle plans/ routes. Also, technology is both evolving and increasing within road haulage which will change our future ways of working.
UK Geography – as you become familiar with customers and our regular transport routes it will certainly increase.
What you need to apply
A formal qualification in both Maths and English would be preferred but not essential. However, you will have to be competent in Word and have at least a basic understanding of Excel.
You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a small but experienced team. You must be willing to learn and develop within our Company, and an interest, or at least an awareness of the importance of road haulage in our everyday lives/ economy could be beneficial.
You may already have some work experience but not yet found your ideal role? Although this role is based in an office where there is structure and routine, every day is different as new challenges/ priorities arise.
For you, a driving licence may be necessary as there is limited public transport to/ from Avonbridge.

Fixed shift: Monday – Friday working from 8am – 5pm.

Regular salary review based on performance/ qualifications.
