Responsibilities
OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be assigned a group of customers and will be responsible for all New Product Introduction engineering aspects for these customers.
The Manufacturing Engineer supports the Manager in the smooth implementation of new parts into the Certech UK portfolio by following the established project management tools employed at Certech UK
To provide Engineering expertise in the smooth execution of key projects on site, using, but not exclusively, the following:
The New Product Introduction project Management system and Project planning
Engineering drawings (physical and electronic, e.g. CAD)
Gauge R&R to check consistency and viability of parts in production
FAIr process
Analysis of CMM and other processing data
The trial and change management procedures employed at Certech UK.
To be competent using the Company’s ERP systems (e.g. IFS / CRM) to support when producing product costing, product routings etc.
To have a sound understanding of Gross Margins for assigned customers NPI part numbers and to interrogate this information and implement improvement plans as required.
To communicate and coordinate with production to ensure trials are completed to plan.
To provide clear and concise feedback to all stakeholders (customers and internal) on project status and where necessary communicate deviations from project plans.
To be able to chair meetings with both customers and internal stakeholders, including visits to customer premises when required.
To be a hands on Engineer who, is capable of running trials unaided when required.
To have an understanding and demonstrate use of root cause analysis techniques to resolve problems first time.
To support Manufacturing and Commercial functions with product costing across the site for NPI parts.
To compile clear and concise reports on projects, including executive summaries when requested.
To maintain a logical and robust filing system (both electronic and hardcopy) to allow easy and quick access to relevant information.
To follow the New Business Development Pipeline process and provide, when necessary the information needed to complete this document for group submission.
To perform any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.
Qualifications
Essential:
Degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Project, Design or Manufacturing) with recent experience of a hands on engineering function in manufacturing environment
High level of experience with in a technical / engineering department.
Product introduction or development experience
Excellent communication skills that focus on simplicity and clarity of presentation, both written and oral.
Mechanically minded towards engineered solutions.
PC literate with expertise in MS Word, Excel and Minitab (experience with CAD desirable)
Attention to detail and an ability to deliver to the highest standard
High energy and an ability to demonstrate resilience in achieving goals/targets.
Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to work with a diverse team
Desirable:
Lean Six Sigma
Knowledge/understanding of Injection moulding process
Able to secure customer confidence and the ability to handle complaints and difficult situations
