Role: Electronic and Electrical Engineer
Location: Close to Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Working hours: Monday to Friday - Full time hours
Capacity of role: Permanent position
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
Our client is currently recruiting for an Electronic and Electrical Engineer to join their busy maintenance-based team. Candidates will need to have a sound understanding of mechanical and electrical-based experience.
Main duties will include:
1. Installation of new and existing equipment including electrical and electronic control systems.
2. Assisting the Department Head in providing engineering and maintenance support to all departments within the group, including prompt attendance to machinery failures/breakdowns, providing fault finding techniques, and utilizing PLC software and electrical/electronic test equipment.
3. Programming of PLCs, introducing updates and upgrading electrical control panels for automated systems and HMIs. Experience with Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi systems would be highly beneficial.
4. Replacement and upgrading of outdated/obsolete systems to achieve company-wide consistency, flexibility, and reliability.
5. Assisting production when necessary to maintain and improve output targets, implementing planned maintenance tasks to ensure optimal production availability.
6. Identifying areas throughout the site and manufacturing to implement continuous improvement based on activities, creating solutions including project-based work experience levels.
7. Offering suggestions for improvement and cost reduction on all aspects of engineering activities.
8. Completing and recording all breakdown tasks on maintenance-based software.
9. Providing assistance and/or supervision of Service Engineers/Contractors as and when required.
10. Ensuring equipment in all departments is maintained to high standards and is compliant with regulations, safety audits, and insurance.
Candidate Attributes:
1. Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a production support role.
2. Good electrical and electronic fault finding, diagnostic, and repair experience.
3. The ability to communicate at all levels with key stakeholders, building relationships with external technical divisions for future support.
4. Qualification in electrical and electronic engineering or a related engineering subject (e.g., Mechatronics), to a minimum of level 3 (City & Guilds; BTEC ONC or equivalent).
5. Basic knowledge of electrical control systems; instrumentation; PLC controllers; variable frequency speed drives (VSDs/VFDs); inverters and servo drives; 3 Phase electrical systems and motors; experience with vibration feed controllers is beneficial.
