Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly orderly to join our Cardiothoracic Centre.
You will support the trained members of staff in making the theatre safe and pleasant for patients and staff. If successful, there is the opportunity to learn more extensive skills by training in the theatre environment.

Main duties of the job
The Cardiothoracic Centre has four theatres and an Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) on one level currently known as the Critical Care Area (CCA). The theatres will operate Monday to Friday with an emergency commitment over 24 hours seven days per week.
* Assisting the qualified staff within the department, preparing, cleaning and maintaining all areas of the theatre throughout the day. Keep all areas of the units clean and tidy as required (according to the cleaning checklists) and facilitate a team approach to good housekeeping.
* Collect from and return patients to the wards pre and post operatively.
* Assist the ODP in the anaesthetic room as required ensuring that you do not breach professional boundaries.
* Act as a runner in theatre having acquired knowledge of trays, instrumentation and all other equipment required.
* Assist with transferring and positioning of patients in theatre.
* Maintaining patient trolleys and equipment.
