An exciting opportunity to join our Finance Team as a Senior Finance Analyst (Financial Control), on a fixed term basis for 18 months, based in our Darlington office (hybrid working arrangement). To learn more about Railpen including our values, culture and purpose, visit our LinkedIn Life page here The role You will be responsible for Financial Control activities within the Financial Control Centre of Excellence with a specific focus on the inputs to the production of entity and consolidated statutory financial statements, regulatory and tax returns within a robust financial controls framework. Key to delivery in this role will be working closely with Finance and Business stakeholders. You will deliver on areas of improvement across the processes and systems you directly work with including where other stakeholders interact with those processes. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. The person The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Excel to enable you to effectively produce relevant reports within Financial Control. It would be ideal if you are working towards an Accountancy Qualification and have statutory reporting experience including supporting the production of year-end and other financial statements, however this isn’t essential. Similarly, it would be a distinct advantage if you have experience with reconciliations as well as experience in assisting with external and internal audit requests and ad hoc investigations. Key to delivery in this role will be close collaboration with teams within Finance. You will be analytical in your approach to allow you to effectively identify and resolve potential discrepancies and have the awareness to escalate where appropriate. You will be organised in your approach, demonstrating effective time management skills to ensure delivery to agreed timescales. You will be able to identify areas of improvement across the processes and systems you directly work with to help enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance team.
