A highly regarded accountancy and business advisory firm based in Ferndown is seeking a Head of Administration to oversee their administrative team and play a hands-on role in supporting Client Service Managers. This is a pivotal role, blending strategic oversight with direct client-facing responsibilities in a busy, collaborative office.
You’ll lead a team that plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth delivery of accountancy services, while also driving process improvements and upholding high standards of customer service.
Role Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight:
1. Manage and lead the administration team, ensuring delivery of consistent, high-quality support across the firm
2. Assess and refine existing admin processes, driving ongoing improvements and standardisation
3. Supervise workflows and short- to medium-term admin projects, managing resources and time effectively
4. Monitor and provide management information and reporting to senior leadership, including workflow assessments, resourcing needs, and client file reviews
5. Collaborate with the Financial Services team to ensure seamless client service across departments
Hands-On Administration:
1. Provide dedicated admin support to Client Service Managers, including arranging meetings, preparing reports, and managing client correspondence
2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and data across internal systems
3. Ensure that all work complies with data protection, confidentiality, and internal policies
4. Prepare and send professional client communications and manage meeting follow-ups and action logs

Candidate Requirements
Experience:
1. 5–8 years of experience, with a proven track record of exceeding expectations
2. Prior managerial experience in a professional services firm, including team leadership and project oversight
3. Comfortable working cross-functionally with solicitors, financial planners, and other professional service providers
Skills & Attributes:
1. Technically strong with solid knowledge of accountancy operations and administration best practices
2. Effective communicator and natural motivator – someone who leads by example
3. Strong time management and multi-tasking ability in a fast-paced setting
4. Confident with Microsoft Office Suite and accountancy software systems
5. Well-organised, proactive, and solutions-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
