Job Title: Senior Power Systems Engineer
Location: Manchester (1 Day/Month)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Are you ready to take on a critical role in advancing the performance and reliability of high-power platforms? ALTEN UK is looking for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to support the design validation and electrical maturity of a major defence programme. Working on cutting-edge submarine power systems, you'll carry out detailed analysis and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to help shape the future of naval technology. Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis of complex power systems
2. Manage and maintain the electrical load budget to support design development
3. Develop and validate electrical models using industry-standard tools
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders on electrical power architecture
5. Prepare and deliver technical reports, calculations, and presentations outlining findings and recommendations
6. Support the verification and validation (V&V) activities of the electrical platform
Qualifications
Essential skills & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
2. Minimum 5 years' experience working with high power and medium voltage distribution systems
3. Hands-on experience with electrical load budget analysis and load flow studies
4. Proficient in power system analysis tools such as ETAP, Simulink/Simscape, or MATLAB
5. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills within a technical environment
6. Previous experience in the Defence, Aerospace, or high-integrity engineering sectors preferred
7. Must be eligible for UKEO Security Clearance
