Act as key worker and utilise expert knowledge to provide comprehensive specialist advice, information and psychological support to patients and their families with a diagnosis of Upper GI/HPB cancer. Facilitating evidence-based, patient-centred care for a defined caseload of patients who have complex needs. In partnership with the existing Upper GI Cancer Specialist Nursing team this autonomous role will coordinate investigations and treatment and provide support to Upper GI/Hepatobiliary (HPB) cancer patients and their carers/families from pre-diagnosis and diagnosis, throughout treatment and follow-up care or palliation The CNS for Upper GI/HPB cancer will be responsible for the development of innovative nursing practice and the provision of specialist advice within their field. They will be an educational resource to all members of the MDT and the wider Trust and facilitate the development of nurses and healthcare staff in order to improve the patient experience.
