About the Role
The Senior EHC Coordinator in Haringey is tasked with providing vital support, guidance, and advice to case officers involved in statutory assessments related to Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) requirements outlined in the Children and Families Act of 2014. Their role involves overseeing various aspects of the assessment team's work.
One of their key responsibilities is the management of disputes on behalf of Haringey. The aim is to resolve these disputes through mediation whenever possible, reflecting a commitment to finding amicable solutions. However, the nature of some cases may necessitate the staff member to represent the borough in court, highlighting the gravity and complexity of certain situations.
The role is pivotal in coordinating the delivery of support services for children and young people with SEND. This involves actively engaging with parents/carers, educational settings, and other professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND. About You
The Senior EHC Coordinator in this role has a multifaceted set of responsibilities. They are tasked with providing comprehensive advice, support, and guidance to EHC Coordinators in their team, including formal and informal supervision and performance management. The role involves managing complex casework within statutory processes and timeframes, with the option to consult or escalate issues to a Statutory Assessment Team Manager.
Building and maintaining positive relationships is emphasized, extending to parents, schools, stakeholders, and professionals. Collaborative efforts with parents, carers, and children with EHC Plans aim to resolve issues promptly. The role extends to Tribunal case work, with a preference for resolution through mediation, but the recognition that representation in court may be necessary.
In addition to individual casework, the Senior EHC Coordinator engages in strategic work, quality assurance audits of EHCPs, attendance at relevant panels, and collaboration with the Statutory Assessment Team Manager and Finance and Performance Manager for continuous improvement. The role also involves ensuring appropriate placements for children with SEND, collecting and reporting data, supporting complaint responses, identifying staff training needs, fostering positive relationships with schools and agencies, and overseeing team meetings and appraisals.
