Veterans Coordinator
Who are we: Since 1988, Everton in the Community has become a dynamic force for good, harnessing the unifying power of football to drive social change and addressing societal challenges across Liverpool City Region. Supported by a team of over 130 full-time staff and over 200 volunteers, the independently governed and independently financed charity offers an extensive array of more than 60 programmes and initiatives that tackle a diverse range of social issues. These programmes cover areas such as health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, exploitation, education, dementia, and disability.
Everton in the Community stands firmly beside the most at-risk and most in need members of its local communities, but the needs of the city are ever-growing and ever-evolving.
About the opportunity:
Everton in the Community is seeking to appoint a Veterans Coordinator to oversee and coordinate the delivery of Everton in the Community’s military veterans’ provision, consisting of Everton Veterans Hub, Aged Veterans provision and our unique female Veterans programme - Stand By Her. The focus of the role is to coordinate the support, provision and services for military veterans engaging with Everton in the Community, alongside the monitoring and evaluation requirements of the funded programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinating the military veterans’ provision ensuring that all day-to-day matters are dealt with or escalated accordingly.
2. Liaising with external partners to raise awareness of the programme and recruit participants.
3. Effectively engaging veterans and their families in ways that encourage their participation in Everton in the Community’s veterans’ provision and wider support.
4. Liaising with existing health and wellbeing programmes to improve participants' health and wellbeing.
5. Effectively raising awareness of the military veterans’ provision across the Liverpool City Region and wider, to encourage improved health & wellbeing and attendance at the programmes, as well as sharing impact.
6. Coordinating the delivery of events, working closely with various partners and stakeholders, to ensure a seamless referral process into the programmes.
Safeguarding:
1. To understand the Club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
2. To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an Anti-bullying environment.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for an individual who has knowledge of the existing health and wellbeing challenges faced by military veterans and their families and a good understanding of the challenges faced by military veterans in accessing support and services.
Our successful candidate will also demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:
1. Mental Health Awareness
2. Educated to a degree level (or equivalent) in a health-related subject - (desirable though not essential)
3. Knowledge of existing referral routes and support services accessible for veterans.
4. Understanding of the key principles of programme design, delivery, and ongoing monitoring/evaluation.
5. Experience of managing multiple programmes at one time.
6. Experience of consulting with veterans’ groups.
7. Experience of delivering social inclusion, physical activity, and educational activities to hard-to-reach groups.
8. Strong project management, organisation and prioritization skills to manage a demanding workload.
9. Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with existing staff members, participants, and key external partners.
The closing date of this advert is Friday 31st January 2025. This position will be offered on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, with the role being based across our Everton in the Community campus.
