Job Description
As the Fashion Communication Specialist and Press Officer, you contribute to added customer value, a strong brand, and increased fashion perception by ensuring high-quality Media Relations and PR & Communications activities, both internally and externally. You are a key player in protecting & balancing the narrative of the brand. You work towards aligned and cross-functional goals, driving customer centricity in all parts of your work. You collaborate closely with the other teams in the Customer Activation Team. You plan, execute, and follow up Sales Market PR and communications activities in accordance with H&M Brand guidelines and policies. You act as a Sales Market spokesperson working with reactive and proactive media relations. Your focus lies within Fashion Communications but you collaborate with the Corporate/Internal Communications Specialist/Press Officer on relevant projects. And like all roles, you work cross-functionally on a daily basis.
You will need to have strong brand and commercial focus and be insight and data-driven, with a proven ability to drive results and work towards goals. You have a proven track record of creating results within the area of Communications through locally adapted plans and strategies. With your experience within the industry and insight-driven mindset, you find innovative ways to engage our customers and stakeholders and contribute to a balanced media image and brand perception. You are both brand and business-driven, customer-focused, commercial, communicative, and an excellent relationship builder. You know how to create results by leading and encouraging others with an ambitious and pragmatic approach.
You are responsible for:
Media Relations and PR & Communications activities:
* You monitor and respond to local media enquiries. You build, develop, and maintain relationships with relevant media and contacts.
* Build trust & develop H&M's local media picture together with your colleagues and proactively pitch news with a focus on H&M's fashion-related stories.
* Manage local reactive media relations and ensure the global communications and media policies are being followed locally.
* Support with media training of spokespeople.
* Responsible for communicating H&M key messages externally in a relevant way.
* Develop and maintain your network with key media and other key stakeholders in the UKIEmarket.
* Responsible for adapting and quality proofing press releases, including creating local press releases when relevant.
* Collaborate with the local customer service team in local communications on social media.
* Monitor Media Relations inbox alongside the PR & Comms team and alert Comms Lead and Corporate Communications Specialist when needed.
* Support the Sales Market Communications activities within areas connected to fashion-related projects.
Fashion PR:
* Take ownership of fashion PR stories, from strategic input to pitching news stories and lead the Showroom Coordinators across all fashion projects.
* Find interesting news angles and hooks to ensure H&M retains a strong brand presence in key media outlets.
* Lead and execute local fashion events to a very high standard, with support from colleagues, working with external agencies and the Global team.
* Consider innovative ways to maintain brand heat and work closely with the team to strategize on new projects.
* Work closely with the showroom coordinators ensuring the showroom is maintained to a high standard, and there is a consistent attendance of priority titles, in line with the new brand direction.
Networking & relationship building:
* Build a network of H&M ambassadors through maintaining and building strong local relationships with media, influencers, celebrities & opinion leaders.
* Build a strong local network through long-term relationships with media and key internal and external stakeholders.
* Act as a H&M brand ambassador.
Follow Up:
* Responsible for local earned media monitoring and analysis.
* Follow up and report on KPIs and objectives connected to project responsibility, showing the connection to added customer value and the business when possible.
* Evaluate, develop, and maintain relevant KPI's to show relevant results.
Reporting & Collaboration:
* Focus lies within the UKIEmarket, but responsibility also lies with collaborating and contributing on an overall regional level for Northern Europe.
* Focus lies within Fashion Communications, but this role also supports internal communications occasionally on bigger more extensive internal communications projects when needed.

We are looking for someone who has:
* A formal education and/or at least 5 years of working experience in similar/relevant roles.
* A strategic mindset with strong planning and prioritizing skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience working with senior stakeholders.
* Excellent relationship builder.
* Fluent in Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
* Proven experience in media relations and PR, and working in fast-paced environments.
* Strategic experience in Fashion PR but also knowledge within Corporate, Crisis Comms & Internal communications is meriting.
* Understanding of the synergies between the different areas within PR & Comms (internal, fashion, corporate, brand).
* Efficient and not afraid of working under pressure.
* Good at packaging key messages to make them relevant and understandable.
* Proven track results in building &/or protecting the brand through PR, media relations, and internal communications.
* An existing network of relevant external stakeholders such as relevant journalists and key opinion leaders or the ability to build that network within a short period of time.
* A team player who thrives when working in a group.
